The Web Specialist II will be part of the Institute for Community Inclusion (ICI) Marketing and communications Group. As a member of this team s/he develops and implements database driven applications for publishing and collecting data for projects and grants at ICI. S/he will also: implement and customize tools such as MySQL, Drupal, Joomla, SurveyGizmo, JQuery, Quickbase, etc.; design and develop online applications for collecting data, accessible surveys and registrations; migrate systems and data; assist with administration and maintenance for the ICI development and production servers; maintain hardware and software for data management; take part in the planning meetings to map out the best route for development of ICI websites and for marketing the knowledge base of ICI through a variety of electronic media; be an expert on accessibility issues and knowledgeable in usability and information design and use these skills in building ICI products; develop needed skills and technical abilities to move institute capabilities forward; develop and implement multimedia projects as needed; and serve as technical resource for internal staff on both Mac and PC platforms.
Requirements:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. At least five years of experience in the field of web development required. Required proficiencies: skills in MySQL, PHP, HTML/CSS/JS and in creating database-driven websites; ability to implement and customize tools such as Drupal, Joomla, SurveyGizmo, JQuery, Quickbase, etc.; expert knowledge of accessibility issues (Section 508, W3C standards, WCAG, evolving accessibility theory); ability to work without WYSWYG and be able to code by hand; knowledge of HTML5 and ability to design for mobile devices; expertise on both the Windows and Macintosh computer platforms; a working knowledge of Networking, the Linux/UNIX environment; knowledge of disability issues and instructional technology; ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple and understandable fashion. Ability to work with others and with minimal supervision.
