This position will help design, build and maintain our network of sites including,, and other digital products.

This role is on the front lines of innovative digital news project design, quality control, information architecture, cross-device testing, site and image optimization and more. Will work closely with KERA Digital, Content and Marketing staff members and other internal stakeholders to develop, support and enhance in-house programs, projects and goals, and will assist in brainstorming, designing and implementing new strategies for building traffic and membership revenue.


Experience and Skills:

The successful candidate should have a minimum of five years' experience in digital media and proven, advanced skills with the tools required to design, code and build web content. Requirements include a fundamental understanding of HTML5 and PHP, downloadable and streaming media and common content management systems (with emphasis on WordPress), knowledge of responsive design techniques, CSS3 and SCSS, JavaScript/jQuery, RSS, JSON, XML, basic database construction and maintenance (primarily MySQL), and strong knowledge of graphic design rules with a keen eye toward online design trends and practices.

This position should be able to flip between design, front-end and back-end development at will. The ideal skill set will include a high degree of fluency in digital image and media editing using Photoshop, Illustrator and other software as needed.

Time management skills with the ability to complete tasks on deadline are crucial.

Knowledge of video delivery, as well as local news and music, is a plus.

Problem solving and learning are more important than any specific tool or technology.

The ability to learn, adapt and use new versions or similar of previously-mentioned tools and frameworks is a must.


A bachelor's degree in digital design or a computer-related field such as computer science or information technology.
