Case Studies

  • Designing a Brochure That's Cut Out For Success

Snelling Professional Services has been connecting great companies with great employment candidates for 50 years. At the end of 2006, Mark Ryan, Vice President and co-owner of Snelling’s Littleton operation came to O’Connor Graphic Design looking for a hand diversifying their client base.

“In our Littleton office, we specialize in providing executive-level staffing solutions to companies in several fields, but especially financial and professional services,” Ryan said. “We knew we wanted to reach out to decision makers in a wide range of industries, and after consulting with Priscilla, we decided that a postcard would give us the most impact for our marketing budget.

“Priscilla is very thorough and had a lot of creative ideas. We were really happy with the design generally, and especially the clip-out section with the phone numbers for the ski resorts. It emphasized our credibility in an interesting way, highlighting how in tune we are with the interests and needs of our Colorado clients and candidates.”

“I was really excited that Mark wanted to try something fun,” O’Connor says, “because I knew that it would be a great way to help the recipient remember Snelling’s information. Every time they took out their little card with the ski resorts on it, they’d see where they got it. They’d be thinking of Snelling all winter long, and appreciating what a thoughtful resource Mark and the whole staff is.”

"It was especially important to adhere to the company's graphic standards for the logo and colors, because of their recent name and slogan change."

  • A Brochure Before the Whistle Blows

Xcelerate Lacrosse Camps give young players from Long Island to Los Angeles an opportunity to learn from some of the finest professional players, world team members, and coaches in the fastest growing sport in America today. Xcelerate offers the #1 day- and overnight lacrosse camps in the country for boys and girls from ages 8 to 18.

Xcelerate Co-Founder and Director Steve Anderson was looking for an 8-page brochure and a quick turnaround time. "Their expectations were high, and due to the accelerated deadline, I knew it would be a challenge," Priscilla O'Connor, lead designer and owner of O'Connor Graphic Design explains.

According to Anderson, "We wanted a high quality brochure that would reflect the high quality of training that campers who stay with us receive."

"In the end," O'Connor says, "I think we came up with a design as high-energy and dynamic as the sport itself. In addition to the hard work on my end, I knew I had to bring a printshop on board who could put out 15,000 brochures in very little time. Thanks to Justin Walker at The Pressroom Inc., all I had to worry about was putting out a great design!"

Anderson says, "We were looking for something that was both informative and fun, and we needed it fast. Priscilla was extremely professional throughout the project and the design process was a pleasure."

Please visit Xcelerate Lacrosse's website to learn more about their lacrosse camps and to download the new brochure!

  • Website in Bloom

Oakes Fields Florist is a company that attracts mainly brides, but also consumers who may be looking for ideas for parties, dinners, banquets, and showers. They specialize in unique and beautiful flowers for any event, and are able to work with any budget.

When Colleen Oakes, owner of Oakes Fields Florist, contacted O’Connor Graphic Design about creating a website, she was at first a little skeptical. “I was not sure that anyone could create the website I had envisioned in my head, but Priscilla did just that. I wanted a website that was clean, simple, and most importantly – focused on the flowers. Priscilla was amazing.”

The main intention of the website was to attract brides of all income levels, since the internet is where most brides look for vendors for their weddings. Colleen knew this, and wanted a simple website that would allow important information and imagery to come across without being overwhelming to the user.

Priscilla was enthusiastic about designing the website, stating, “Designing a florist-themed site was fun because it didn’t need be a typical, stuffy corporate site. Colleen and I both wanted it to have a whimsical, light feel so that the target audience, brides-to-be and event planners, would actually enjoy viewing the site.”

Colleen and Priscilla are both very optimistic about the future of the website. Colleen loves the fact that she can get in touch with people who have viewed her website after they have completed the contact form, and Priscilla believes that Colleen’s positive attitude and enthusiasm will carry the venture a long way.

  • Brochure Makeover to Entice New Members

As a member of the Design to Print Denver Media Group, Priscilla O’Connor was approached to design a new membership application that would be distributed to the graphic communication community.

The Denver Media Group was founded in 1991 as Design to Print, a special industry group of the Printing & Imaging Association Mountain States. Their mission is to address the many issues facing designers and publishing industry professionals who promote communication through all types of media.

Jennifer Janness, president of Design to Print Denver Media Group, wanted the application to show potential members what the group was all about, and “to give them a sense of security that they are joining a well-established networking and informational group. Priscilla was very knowledgeable and professional, and this is the best design project I have seen in a long time.”

“I was flattered to be chosen to design the brochure by my peers. There was a little bit of pressure to create a brochure that would be used as a recruiting tool for the Denver Media Group to attract other designers, but in the end it was an exciting opportunity for me and I am very pleased with the end result,” Priscilla says.

This project was completed in conjunction with T&R Graphic Imaging, a company that offers strategic imaging solutions. T&R provided the printing for the product in partnership with Printing and Imaging Association Mountain States.

  • SoCal Based Company's Marketing Makeover to Appeal to Fortune 500

Sonia Lopez, president and founder of Action Onsite, Inc., called O'Connor Graphic Design with an urgent plea to makeover their company brochure. The brochure they had been using was not appealing to their target audience, Fortune 500 companies all over the United States. Action Onsite, Inc. is experiencing tremendous growth, and they wanted a new brochure to reflect the success that they have become.

"It was a pleasure to work with Sonia again," says Priscilla O'Connor, designer, "I had met Sonia years ago and helped her with initial design to launch her new company. Years later, I see how her company has grown and I'm so proud of her both as a friend and client. It's a great honor to help her push her marketing to a new level."

Sonia Lopez adds, "Action Onsite needed new brochures to target manufacturers, distribution centers, and call centers. We feel that the new marketing piece [shown above] will help our company grow and meet our goals by increasing awareness and elevating our overall appearance. After being disappointed by other designers in the past, we were excited to work with Priscilla and O'Connor Graphic Design again. Priscilla is very professional with a lot of creativity. She went way beyond what was expected."

Action Onsite, Inc. is a therapy based company specializing in ergonomics, early intervention and education at the work site to decrease recordable injuries. Their innovative approach promotes lifestyle changes, creating a healthier balanced life for the industrial athlete.

The next project O'Connor Graphic Design has been contracted to work with Action Onsite is a new website, further increasing awareness and status of the company. The launch will be announced in a future newsletter.

O'Connor Graphic Design would like to thank Travitt Hamilton and his company The Write Stuff for his professional writing and editing services for the brochure. With Travitt's services available through O'Connor Graphic Design, clients are able to experience the benefit of both exceptional design and written content, without sacrificing affordability.

  • Achieving a New Level of Health through "Conscious Wellness"

Although they were good friends and coworkers years ago, Priscilla O'Connor admits she was surprised and a little doubtful when Heather Watson approached her with her new business idea. Heather's new company would be Conscious Wellness, Inc., providing therapeutic biofeedback services and wellness coaching for patients with ailments ranging from headaches to terminal disease.

"Heather was so excited about the new way she could help people live a better life through therapy and coaching, that I had to try her services myself," said Priscilla, owner and head graphic designer of O'Connor Graphic Design. "We both felt that it would help me to understand what biofeedback and distance healing was about, allowing me to be a better designer for her logo, business cards and website."

After completing two therapy sessions with Heather, Priscilla was no less than convinced that Conscious Wellness can help many people with their health issues, with no limit to how far away they are.

Encouraged and inspired by her positive experience with Conscious Wellness, Priscilla designed a corporate identity for the new business, and accomplished a peaceful and calming look for the website.

"Because we offer an intangible service, we needed our printed pieces and website to show quality and competence, and O'Connor Graphic Design really accomplished that. All of the elements look very professional. We wanted the design to convey tranquility, peace and rejuvenation so that at a glance people know what we are about even before they read the text," Heather explains. "We outshine our competitors."

"O'Connor Graphic Design really cares about helping businesses succeed. Their heart and soul went into our project and it shows. They exceeded our expectations both in design and service," Heather praised.

  • New Strategy to Lower Material Cost for Plumbing and HVAC Companies

Supply Chain Consulting, Inc. works with companies to reduce their material costs. Their new program, GGS! (Get Ready, Get Set, Save!) is targeted at Plumbing and HVAC businesses nationwide. The GGS! Program is sold through the new website, LowerMaterialCost.com.

"The new website and logo design make my company look more professional. When you're doing a national campaign, you have to portray the image that you are a legitimate company," says Supply Chain president and GGS! Program author, David Bridges.

David Bridges became a client of O'Connor Graphic Design in 2002, when a brochure needed to be created for his new business. When he contacted the O'Connor Graphic Design again in 2006, it was a pleasant reunion for both parties.

"I knew from my previous experience that Priscilla O'Connor and her company would work with me and provide the best service they knew how," David explains. "While the website project presented its own unique challenges, we overcame them together. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the final results."

"Working with Dave was an exciting opportunity to reconnect with a client whom I had previously worked with. It was also an example of how current technology allows me to work with any client, almost anywhere in the country," says Priscilla O'Connor. "Although Dave's company is in Ohio and I'm in Colorado, good communication on both our parts can overcome any space in between."
