Eric D. Fields
Software Engineer (UX & front-end)
EricFields
Boston, MA
I am a web developer with an expertise in user experience and front-end development. I love developing tools and experiences for the web and mobile devices, always focusing on clean and consistent UI and keeping the user goals in focus, but I also enjoy taking liberties to add whimsy and delight when possible.
I am looking for opportunities where I can help shape web solutions from conception or an early or experimental stage, but spend the majority of my time developing alongside a small team using progressive tools to build something awesome. This awesome thing (or things) should be future-friendly, accommodating for touch-screens and myriad device sizes and capabilities.
I focus on front-end technologies that allow for quick iteration and modularity: semantic HTML, turbo-charged CSS with SCSS/SASS and Compass, responsive design, and JavaScript boosted with jQuery, Underscore, Backbone et al. I also have experience with "full-stack" development with Ruby on Rails, working with relational databases and LAMP environment, as well as implementing, customizing and extending open-source content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress.
I have worked closely with clients and teams throughout the project lifecycle and am proficient with discovery exercises including creating user profiles and scenarios, wireframes, workflow diagrams and visual design.
Away from the keyboard, I enjoy coffee, cooking, mixology and our Australian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees pup, Maggie.

I increased our ability to deliver bug-fixes and improvements by adopting SASS and Compass to author modular style components that could easily be used and re-used throughout the site.
