Jeremy Smith

Designer, Developer & Typographer

JeremySmith

Phoenix, AZ

I am a designer, web developer, typographer, and art director with an exceptional range of hands-on experience, from web design and typography to print and branding. Within four short years of starting my professional design career I have developed a very broad index of creative work, taught college level design at a major university, been published in respective trade magazines, and co-lead a ground-breaking grassroots event Phoenix Design Week.

While specializing in web and typographic design for the music, film, and fashion industries, I have been exposed to some of the world's most influential brands, including AOL, Proctor & Gamble, T-Mobile, Toyota, Warner Brothers, and Rolling Stone Magazine. I produce the highest quality of creative output for massive international markets in multiple languages and strategies; I work quickly and efficiently, have an exceptional eye for detail and a passion for typography and great design.

I am someone who demonstrates raw talent, takes initiative, acts independently, and works effectively within a professional service environment with a polished and intellectually strong presence.

I want to work with companies who have smart business practices, and uphold good design and strategy.

  • Design Instructor
    Tempe, AZ
    Aug 2007 - Jan 2009
    Arizona State University

I occasionally teach graphic design courses in the School of Design at Arizona State University. My course introduced first year students to the fundamental principles of graphic design in preparation for further study. Students explored and discovered a largely unknown phenomena in the interaction of form including two and three dimensions, introduction to color theory , and visual line studies.

My teaching approach was to let the student decide the outcome, while my purpose was to guide their own self discoveries in visual problem solving while strengthening their design vocabulary and rhetoric. The experiences have been unmatched, and I wish to continue my experiences in teaching design.
