Interactive Designer

Powell Tate, the Washington, DC office of Weber Shandwick, a global public relations and communications firm is expanding our Digital Communications team. We are looking for a talented, full-time Interactive Designer to join us as we create Web sites, online campaigns, social media presences and more. The work will touch on some of the most pressing issues of the day through the work of our nonprofit, corporate, association and government clients.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design compelling, visually engaging online experiences that are user-focused and drive action
  • Collaborate with teams of communications, public affairs, user experience and Web development professionals to create the ideal products for our clients
  • Apply strong expertise and experience in design principles and trends, communications techniques, usability and Web technologies to each effort

Required Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in designing for the Web and representative portfolio
  • Boundless creativity, attention to detail and love of great design
  • Proficiency in design applications: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Flash
  • Strong understanding of XHTML, CSS and semantic markup
  • Broad knowledge of social media and digital communications
  • Familiarity with the principles of Web usability, accessibility and user experience
  • Ability to work well with a variety of key internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency at managing multiple projects across many clients at one time
  • A fun, collaborative attitude

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with a wide variety of clients
  • Experience with front-end development languages like JavaScript, DHTML, ActionScript
  • Experience designing for a variety of content management systems
  • BA/MA degree in design or related field
