Intermediate Designer

Canoe is currently looking for an Intermediate Designer.

RESPONSIBILITIES Design 1. Design on medium, complex business-critical projects, deciding on style, colour palette and typography under the guidance of the Art Director 2. Day-to-day maintenance following best practices and approaches in design 3. Participation in brainstorming meetings with fellow Designers 4. Report progress, issues and risks of all projects to Art Director 5. Ensure work is delivered on time 6. Adhere to product style guides where applicable 7. Keep abreast of developments in design and technology, particularly design programs 8. Adhere to usability concepts, information architecture best practices and current interface technologies

REQUIRED SKILLS • Demonstrated comprehension of design theory, page layout and colour • Strong understanding of cross-browser/cross-platform issues and web standards • Familiarity with a wide variety of media, including photography, digital audio and video would be an asset • Understanding of motion graphics and animation and their role in enhancing site design • Print and Flash knowledge would be an asset • Experience with PhotoShop, Illustrator essential • Understanding of HTML • Understanding of usability issues, information architecture and interface best practices • Knowledge of various prototyping methods • Demonstrated passion to inspire and innovate • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a team setting • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Must possess a strong work ethic and have high standards in product quality

QUALIFICATIONS 2-4 years experience Degree or diploma from a leading college or university Fluency in French would be an asset
