We seek a Creative Director to direct the creative development of both offline and online projects, ensuring cohesive and on-strategy design execution of stand-alone projects as well as multi-tactics campaigns. Manage and contribute to the creative output of the design team, maintain a high level of commitment to UTI's brand standards and our customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand UTI's strategic goals, brands, customers (both internal and external), and operational structure; analyze the creative team, environment, processes, technologies, etc, to determine areas of opportunity; build and direct a creative function (including processes and tools designed for efficient workflow) aligned with and in support of company and departmental goals.
- Contribute to the strategic and creative development of UTI's marketing and branding efforts by completing creative projects and guiding the development of projects executed by those on the creative team.
- Work collaboratively with marketing partners to understand business objectives and make creative recommendations for project execution based on those objectives.
- Partner with advertising agency counterparts to ensure collaborative and consistent campaign execution; communicate work, share assets, and brainstorm concepts with transparency; lead by example, inspiring team members to work with external partners in the same way.
- Ensure self and staff development in web-based and interactive marketing capabilities; maintain awareness of digital marketing technologies; share with appropriate marketing partners identified opportunities to enter the marketplace.
- Prioritize work and manages projects on a daily basis, based on the needs of the business and resources availability, to ensure creative quality and customer satisfaction.
- Assure that commitments to project deadlines are kept, two-way communication between customers and the creative team is both timely and open, and that presentations are professional, engaging, persuasive, and supported by sound rationale.
- Direct the activities and professional development of creative team members, including conducting staff reviews, taking corrective actions and recommending promotions.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BA or BS, preferably in Marketing, Advertising, or Design.
- 5+ years experience managing an internal creative department or leading a creative team within an agency.
- Experienced in developing creative (copy and design) for various mediums: TV/video, direct mail/print advertising, collateral, websites/online advertising, etc.
- Demonstrated desire and ability to cultivate creative talent and build a unified creative team.
- Experienced in developing creative to meet business objectives and presenting concepts to senior leaders with sound rationale.
- Experience working on both the client-side and the agency-side is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to create design within constraints of a regulated industry is a plus.
- Demonstrated talent for producing high-caliber creative concepts and copy.
- Ability to judge creative concepts and copy, and clearly communicate creative direction to others.
- Solid understanding of advertising and marketing principles, especially as it relates to direct response/lead generation; a thorough understanding of marketing communications strategies and tactics, including digital technologies.
- Ability to quickly develop a solid understanding of UTI's objectives, competitors, customer segments, and industry alliances.
- Excellence in managing and motivating staff, as well as fostering an environment of collaboration and creativity.
- Superior problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; highly-developed presentation and persuasion skills; solid negotiation skills.
- Ability to develop and implement processes and tools to create work efficiencies with regard to communication, planning, time-management, quality assurance, compliance, and budget.
- Excellent knowledge of In Design.
- Skilled in Flash, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point.
- Solid understanding of interactive media production.
