I come from a fine art and graphic design background, both of which continue to do, and started to take photography seriously in 2003 shooting for BMW Magazine in New Zealand. I studied photography during my 3 years graphic design degree and further worked as a photographic assistant for a variety of top advertising and editorial photographers in New Zealand and Australia. In 2005 I started Matt Lowden Photography and was fortunate enough to gain some well respected clients with whom I have enjoyed developing a unique style and look over the years. I am a huge fan of using natural light and I approach 90% of my shoots with the intent of using available light when possible. This has the added benefit of a fast work flow. Having more than a decade of Photoshop experience enables me to use this tool selectively and sensitively, trying at all times to use a 'light hand' when retouching, unless the creative intent is otherwise.
