Assistant Director, Brown Annual Fund Initiatives

In concert with both Annual Giving and Marketing services teams, the incumbent oversees the coordination of Brown Annual Fund segmentation, online volunteer resources, special projects and initiatives (e.g. Giving Days), Carrie-Tower stewardship, and personalized messaging with an eye on growing dollars at all levels and strengthening participation.

The incumbent will:

- Consult on annual giving content strategy, in partnership with the Marketing Services team;

- Help generate content for volunteer materials and special initiatives such as Giving Day (Volunteer materials may include personal email communications, websites and class-specific social media, feature stories, sell sheets, brochures, and advertisements in support of the Annual Fund's mission.);

- Provide additional content development support as needed, with input and guidance from Marketing team members.

- He/she reviews analysis of Annual Giving direct mail (overall and by mailing/segment/constituency) and any tests conducted to help programs improve (i.e., to raise more money and to increase participation) and makes recommendations to the Annual Giving senior management team. He/she will serve as Annual Giving's liaison to the Advancement Marketing Services team, ensuring consistent, timely, and strategic results.


- Bachelor's degree at least 5 years relevant experience (e.g., annual giving, fundraising, sales, direct marketing, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working in a University setting preferred.

- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to interpret data and use it to drive marketing and/or business decisions.

- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communications skills; experience with developing/delivering persuasive communications to a varied constituency preferred.

- Excellent manager of time, projects, and people. Detail-oriented and analytical, but also able to see the "big picture." Must possess positive attitude and leadership ability.

- Self-motivation, creativity, and the ability to solve problems; ability to work cooperatively with others.

- Some supervisory experience desirable.

- Demonstrated knowledge of computer software programs necessary to perform the job, including but not limited to, work processing, spreadsheet programs, databases, email programs, and web applications. Experience with database query tools strongly preferred.

- Excellent computer skills including, but not limited to, word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and web-based software required. Experience with database query tools strongly preferred.
