University Relations (UR) builds enduring relationships, resources, and understanding that enable UC Santa Cruz to provide educational opportunities, create knowledge, and transform lives. UR works closely with internal and external constituencies of the campus including trustees of the UC Santa Cruz Foundation, the Alumni Council, and members of other key constituencies.
University Relations provides leadership, strategic planning, and central services in the areas of alumni, donor and parent relations and outreach, fundraising, government relations, communications, marketing, media relations, public events and publications (electronic and print), and campus Web development. In addition, University Relations provides support for the UC Santa Cruz Foundation and the UCSC Alumni Associations, both separate, not-for-profit corporations in the state of California.
Under general direction of the Director of Marketing, the Senior Videographer is responsible for assisting with conceptualizing and implementing the campus's visual presence in online publications through video and other multimedia content. This includes the planning and production of videos, motion graphics, and web-based programming to most effectively share information and promote and market UC Santa Cruz's priorities and world-class programs to internal and external audiences.
The position requires a broad and thorough understanding of videography, communications principles, strategies and tactics, particularly as they relate to video:, comprehensive technical knowledge, digital storytelling, strong aesthetic and editorial sensibilities, the ability to work effectively with collaborators from a wide range of campus units, strong skills in managing projects and people and public speaking skills. The duties of this position require working directly with faculty, staff and guests, operating equipment, scouting locations, supervising crews and advising distant photographers, videographers, producers and crews.
Incumbent should be comfortable multitasking and working on shorter projects with tight deadlines as well as long-term video campaigns. Incumbent will be expected to stay current on emerging and new digital trends, the latest in video equipment, and best practices in video production.
Designs, produces and approves visual presentations, publications or communications for audiences that are either broad or highly influential using various creative methods. Requires subject matter expertise and an in-depth understanding of the audience and visual communication strategies / methods. Work is of considerable difficulty and requires consultative skills for leading projects with clients. Functions as a lead within the department.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Strong combination of visual communications, analytical, creative and technical abilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong independent achiever, capable of managing many tasks at once with an extremely high level of confidence.
Ability to serve as primary planner and coordinator for videography, web streaming and related matters under the direction of the director.
