Metro Strategies, Inc. seeks a talented individual to join our team as a Web Designer/Digital Marketing Specialist on a part-time basis. This position is responsible for developing project-based websites and implementing digital marketing strategies. Web designing duties include responsibility for the overall user experience and designing the user interface for project websites and applications. This includes overall navigation flow, creation of design elements when required, comprehensive layouts, templates, and finished solutions. Digital marketing duties will include developing digital strategies and campaigns including social media, video, digital ads, and email. This position is expected to work closely with the firm's staff to plan and execute digital communications strategies for projects and will be based in Metro Strategies Glen Ellyn office. Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design, and update project websites:

    • Develop site navigation by categorizing content; funnels traffic through content.

    • Develop site content and graphics; designs images, icons, banners, audio and video enhancements, etc.

    • Install programming language using authoring and formatting tools; ensures cross-platform compatibility; establishes and maintains links.

    • Create and maintain responsive sites that work across a variety of browser types and devices.

    • Establish locatability by registering with search engines.

    • Ensure site security.

    • Establish design guidelines, standards, and best practices.

  • Work with staff to plan and execute digital communications strategies including SEO/SEM, email, social media, ads, and video:

    • Develop engaging online content.

    • Develop and implement social media plans.

    • Manage the development of videos.

    • Continually evaluate and recommend the use of emerging tools, trends and technologies.

    • Monitor and analyze metrics.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with designing and creating complete websites, with a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in web-based graphic design or web interface design.

  • Demonstrated experience in implementing digital marketing plans.

  • Solid foundation and experience with HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, WordPress, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Working knowledge of Javascript and JQuery and additional 3rdparty plug-ins as needed.

  • Experience working with web content management systems (CMS).

  • Strong understanding of web design and the fundamentals of user experience and cross-platform compatibility.

  • Experience overseeing use or production of video as part of an overall communications strategy.

  • Knowledge of website and digital analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Google Data Studio).

  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or other visual design tools.

  • Graphic design skills a definite plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • A B.A. or B.S. in communications, graphic design, art, digital marketing or related field or equivalent experience.
