ABOUT RICHARD MCLARENRichard McLaren is one of the world's premier photographers. With a storied career spanning close to five decades, McLaren has photographed for top publications throughout the globe including Vogue, InStyle, GQ,Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Esquire and more. Launching his career at the age of 16 years old as an assistant in London, McLaren fast proved himself under the mentorship of top U.K. photographers Brian Aris, Alan Ballard and David Steen, learning the fine art of lighting and composition with some of the most famous faces of the 70's and 80's in London. His current roster of work sees him creating full-scale campaigns for TV networks including A&E, BBC, ITV, History Channel, CMT and Comedy Central. Additionally, McLaren is the go-to photographer for brands including Emirate Airlines, NASCAR, Ford, The National Guard, Chevrolet, Gulfstream, Rolls Royce and Sketchers, where he has assisted in developing everything from magazine ads to 150 foot building wraps. McLaren has photographed world-renowned luminaries from former President Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu to Tina Turner and Sir John Hurt, as well as a list of celebs including Halle Berry, Zachary Quinto, Jon Bon Jovi, Marc Anthony,Mariah Carey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez, Pierce Brosnan, Eva Mendes, Orlando Bloom, Patrick Swayze, Heath Ledger and more. He has more recently been found directing and producing videos/commercials for various brands around the world. At the same time he also shoots the stills campaign, making him a one stop shop for both video and stills. In addition to to his extensive work with major brands, McLaren also donates his time to a variety of charities and nonprofits including UNICEF and The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. He recently spent a month traveling through rural China to photograph the distinct cultural identities of its people in collaboration with the Chinese government for a book titled, China: The New Long March. He currently splits his time between his homes in Los Angeles and London, as well as extensive amounts of time visiting his two daughters in New York, and frequently jetting across the globe for his latest campaigns.
