Each piece I create is a dialogue between material and language. My mediums are steel, aluminum, and copper which are then patinated resulting in unexpected outcomes. I am inexplicably drawn to the dichotomy between the hard surfaces of my materials and the softness of flower petals, a motif seen throughout my work. My newest area of exploration is the use of tiny, painted words written in multiple languages. Worldwide, humans are immersed in language every day from reading to writing to speaking to listening. In this daily flood of words, "I Love You" and "Thank You" are key messages that help remind us of what is essential, kind, and human in this life.
