Bio
Né à Buenos Aires, Pascual Zapata débute une formation d'orfèvre en 1984 à l'institut d'Art Benvenuto Cellini, à Valenza-Po en Italie.
C'est en 1990, alors qu'il poursuit son parcours de créateur bijoutier, qu'il découvre le monde du théâtre et de l’opéra.
Sa rencontre avec le scénographe Roberto Platé lui offre la possibilité d'être son assistant pour Carmen, mis en scène par Alfredo Arias pour l'Opéra National de Paris.
En 1998, suite à une formation de plasticien peintre à l’Infa Crear à Paris, il entre dans les ateliers de l'Opéra National de Paris, où il se perfectionne dans le décor de spectacle (Don Carlo, Falstaff).
Il devient chef décorateur en 2006 et travaille pour de grands noms tels que Pina Baush (Orphée et Eurydice), Emir Kusturica (Le Temps des Gitans), La Fura dels Baus, Trishia Brown, Bob Wilson, Robert Carsen et Nicky Rieti, entre autres.
En 2009, l’Opéra National de Paris lui confie la création de Am Anfgang de Anselm Kieffer. Il devient alors son assistant, notamment pour l'exposition Next Year in Jerusalem, à la galerie Gagossian à New York (2010).
En 2011, il forme le Line-Paint-Art Team, un groupe d’artistes peintres qui excellent dans les différents domaines de la décoration : matières, faux bois, toiles peintes, sculptures, trompe-l’œil, graph, matériaux composites… Ensemble, ils participent aux projets Chanel/Fendi de Karl Lagerfeld réalisés dans les ateliers Devineau, et pour ADLT à la décoration d’intérieur de magasins Christian Dior dans le monde entier (New York, Vienne, Istanbul, Dubaï…).
Ils sont appelés très régulièrement à la réalisation de décors pour L’Opéra National de Paris. Ces réalisations sont le reflet de leur talent et de leur créativité.

Pascual Zapata was born in Buenos Aires. He began a goldsmith degree in 1984 at the "Benvenutto Cellini" art institute in Valenza-Po, Italy.
It is only in 1990, after years of working as a creator- jeweler, that he discovers the world of theatre and opera.
His meeting with scenographer Roberto Platé offers him the possibility to work as his assistant in Alfedo Arias' s direction of Carmen.
After following an internship as a visual artist at the infa crear in Paris, he enters the national opera's studios and improves his skills as a show designer.
He is promoted as art director in 2006, and works for such renowned names as Pina Baush "Orpheus and Eurydice" , Emir kusturica "Time of the gypsies", La fura del bahus, Trishia Brown, Bob Wilson, Robert Carsen et Nicky Rieti, among others...
In 2009, the Opera trusts him with the creation of "am Anfang"by Anselm Kieffer. He then becomes the artist's assistant during his 2010 exhibition "next year in Jerusalem" at the Gagossian gallery in New York.
