Art Director of Packaging and Brand Identity

As the Art Director of Packaging and Brand Identity, you will be responsible for enhancing, protecting and representing the overall creative direction and goals related to our Brand. You will lead a team to create and optimize packaging, internal and external marketing materials, and products in order to deliver best-in-class creative that supports company growth. In this role, you will be a key contributor to enhancing our brand identity and innovation processes. In this highly cross functional role, you will analyze the needs of the business and drive priorities for the creative department. Our Creative team is a critical contributing factor to producing premium Guest Experiences to satisfy the needs and tastes of our discerning Guests. Bottega Louie prides itself at being at the forefront of the industry and offering the premium Guest Experience and accessible luxury products enjoyed by thousands of Guests daily. As the Creative Director, you are fundamental to the success of the company. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Design Function

  • Directs and provides strategic direction to the design team.

  • Design new trend setting packaging.

  • Provides direction on the design, composition, typography, storytelling, and conceptual areas ensuring the overall effectiveness and consistency with the brand identity.

  • Delivers innovative solutions that are on time and under budget.

  • Takes part in brand briefings for high-profile, high-impact projects; effectively accepts, challenges, and offers alternate recommendations of execution based on brand strategy.

  • Studies the creative marketplace assessing where assigned work stands against competitors and design trends. Maintains, translates and extends the product brand equities look and feel, brand identity and style guidelines while ensuring high quality of creative design

  • Employ an iterative design process and value engineer with Vendors to develop or re-design packaging so that Bottega Louie is producing best quality product at the best possible price

  • Prioritizes tasks, manages resources and coordinates amidst multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.

  • Responsible for stylized brand photography: people, menu items, products and pastry for internal and external uses

  • Serves as a creator and champion with Senior Leadership/Owners and internal stakeholders. Provides regular consultation and review of creative work.

Brand Functions

  • Listens, asks, prioritizes and translates the project, marketing goals and information into strategic brand concepts, voice, messages and rationales.

  • Collaborates and build strategies for the creative department to meet market changes or support strategic plans.

  • Intakes, brainstorms, directs and resources New Brand development work as it relates to packaging, storytelling and creative brand ID.

  • Collaborates with ensures presentations/pipeline are on time, professional, engaging, visually compelling, persuasive and supported by a sound rationale.

  • Shoot and editing training, preparation procedure and instructional videos

  • Produce content for internal and external marketing and social media

Financial Functions

  • Works with company leadership & owners to manage project deliverables and ensure adherence to budget restrictions.

  • Administer Request for Proposal and competitive bid purchasing process

Personnel Functions

  • Identifies and manages internal and external (occasionally) creative resources.

  • Collaborates with internal team to set expectations and standards (build a culture) for creative team attitude, behavior, teamwork and professional development.

  • Drives recruitment and retention of talent.

  • Develops a successful vision/strategy through strong leadership skills.

  • Develops and approves changes to systems, policies, and stand operating procedures.

  • Participates in department/interdepartmental planning and management teams and works cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization.

  • Identifies and obtains staff capabilities needed to accomplish objectives.

  • Directs the development and implementation of standards and goals, ensuring they support the organization's business plans.

  • Oversees merchandising specifications and audits that Operations adheres to standard operating procedures

  • Coordinates with Sales and Marketing Department to launch new business segments


  • Prior Graphic design, creative, or art director relevant experience with consumer products, packaging, print and digital

  • Ability to oversee and develop internal and external brand strategy and visual language throughout multiple platforms: packaging, digital, external guest marketing materials, in-store merchandising, investor presentations, training manuals and other internal Company documents

  • Experience in managing projects from concept to completion

  • Photography and web design relevant experience

  • BA or Bachelor of Communication Arts degree in graphics design or related field is preferred

  • 5 years' graphic design or other creative work experience

  • Skilled in formatting and copy editing

Additional Desirable Skill & Experience

  • Graphic/Package design experience within the consumer products, packaging, print and digital in an external or in-house creative agency.

  • Experience leading and directing the creative work of others, managing team member performance and contributing to department or agency vision preferred.

  • Experience working with senior leadership and/or boards of directors to solve problems and drive growth. Experience applying a wide degree of creativity and innovation in the concept ideation process and in development.

  • Experience managing outside resources, including vendors, photographers, illustrators, printers, freelancers, web and interactive sub-contractors.

  • Experience managing art direction, design, copywriting and production of projects. Knowledge of 2D and 3D conceptual understanding of elements.

  • Skilled in managing and motivating staff.

  • Skilled in communication, presentation and persuasion.

  • Knowledge of advertising and marketing principles.

  • Demonstrated talent for high-caliber creative concept development and writing.

  • Experience judging creative concepts and copy, and clearly communicating creative direction to others.

  • Skilled in the use of the Apple Macintosh platform, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop at an advanced level. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
