The NBC News Digital Group is seeking an Editorial Designer to be responsible for creating and defining visual storytelling for NBC News, TODAY and MSNBC on their digital platforms and third party distributed platforms. The ideal candidate is creative, efficient, has extremely strong graphic design skills and experience working in digital publishing. Working with the design team you'll play an instrumental role in growing the voice and visual aesthetic of NBC News. Experience with video production and animation are a plus. What you will do:
- Closely collaborate with the editorial, product, media and technology teams
- Design visual assets, including editorial illustrations, photo treatments, infographics and motion graphics
- Create custom ways to present editorial content
- Develop and maintain design standards across editorial products
What you will bring: You can apply conceptual thinking to design You know the capabilities and limitations of digital platforms You have a visual portfolio that demonstrates your typographic, illustrative and conceptual design capabilities Strong sense of storytelling and news judgement You read the news, discuss it thoughtfully and are eager to develop visual components to expand it You work well under deadline and thrive in the often frantic nature of a newsroom You have exceptional graphic design skills, including color, typography and layout You have 2-5 years digital publishing design You have experience working in an editorial environment and have collaborated with journalists You have a solid foundation in HTML and CSS, and have experience with JS You have expert level proficiency using Adobe CS, including AE, and Sketch You take your job seriously, but not yourself Bachelor's degree or higher Willing to work in New York Legally able to work in the US
