Visual/UI Designer

Designer 2-4+ years experience, Full Time, Portland, OR

In this role, you'll design websites (desktop + mobile), applications, and experiences for Upswell's cultural, social, and research partners. You'll work with developers, strategists, and art directors to define strategic approaches and solve ambiguous problems. Our ideal candidate unites visual design, interface design, and user experience and is highly iterative and collaborative. You are curious about user motivations and believe early prototyping will help meet their needs.

What You'll Do

  • Work collaboratively to establish visual and interface concepts based on strategy

  • Create and develop design documentation, including visual designs, UI systems, user flows, storyboards, and mood boards

  • Develop and test lo-fi prototypes

  • Interact with clients and users to elicit and clarify front-end requirements

  • Facilitate visual design work sessions, synthesize findings, and generate insights

What We Require

  • 2-4 years' experience working in a client services environment as a designer

  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, impeccable execution

  • Demonstrated ability to articulate and justify a design rationale

  • Demonstrated experience with design prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch and the Adobe Creative Suite

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Experience with motion, animation, and coding a plus
